PPM Sponsor Eden Housing Associations MD John Clasper to do the Big Sleep Challenge
PPM were delighted to sponsor John Clasper the Managing Director of Eden Housing Association who was taking part in the Big Sleep Challenge organised by Cumbria Community Foundation.
Those taking part in the challenge sleep under the stars in Windermere, the Lake District, to raise awareness of the prevalence of fuel poverty within Cumbria and to raise funds for the Winter Warmth Fund.
As reported by the Cumbria Community Foundation, there are hundreds of older people in Cumbria who are in danger of becoming ill or even dying because of the cold. An average of 300 deaths occur in Cumbria each year due to the effects of the cold weather. For the past two years the Winter Warmth Fund has literally saved lives and gives to older people who are in danger because they can’t afford to heat their homes and choosing between eating or heating throughout the winter months.
Mike Muir the CEO at Impact Housing and Cath Purdy, CEO of South Lakes Housing also took part in the challenge alongside John and raised £2488.00 altogether.
We are hoping that next year we will get our Director’s to give up their cosy night’s sleep for the challenge too!!
