Our wonderful operatives Harry and James from our PPM Penrith depot have used their PPM Volunteering Day to put together an amazing, almost full size, snooker table that was kindly donated to the Carlisle Youth Zone.
Carlisle Youth Zone provides a safe and fun environment for young people within the Carlisle community to enjoy outside of school hours. The aim of the centre is to develop and fulfil the full potential of all the 1500 young people that use the service. The centre is open 6 nights a week and during school holidays providing a safe meeting place for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, where they can, for a nominal entrance fee, participate in a wide range of positive activities. There is an affordable cafe and space to chill, as well as sports, arts and enterprise activities and some formal teams and clubs. Importantly, the Youth Zone also offers someone to talk to for young people and a space to be themselves.
The Youth Zone is a charity and raises all its own funds and sponsorship to keep this fantastic service available for local young people. For jobs like putting the snooker table together, they are very thankful for the help of our skilled operatives who made assembling the giant table look easy... even without instructions.
Lynsey Buckle, Development Manager for the Youth Zone was very impressed with Harry and James's speedy construction and said "We're so pleased with it, thank you so much for helping us out"
PPM offer all our team the opportunity to use their brilliant skills and/or time to help a charity of their choice for one day each year. We are always delighted to be able to help our local communities in any way that we can.
