PPM help at The North Lakes Food Bank

On Thursday the 8th December Laura Brough and Beth Nicholls, Communication and Development Officers at PPM, went along to the North Lakes Food Bank's warehouse at Lilyhall to help pack food parcels for children in the Christmas Holidays.

550 bags of emergency food supplies are given to people in Allerdale and Copeland each month.  4 tonnes of food each month is needed to enable them to help people in short term crisis in the community.  With help from volunteers, The North Lakes Food Bank manage to pack this many food parcels.

Beth and Laura packed 86 bags of food, along with other volunteers on the day. Laura said " to see the amount of food that had been donated in the warehouse was very humbling and shows the great Cumbrian community spirit." 

The North Lakes Food Bank have many collection points around Allerdale and Copeland, including most churches. If you would like to be a collection point please follow the link to the website at the bottom of the page for more information.
